Do you only want to watch the concerts?
NO TICKET NEEDED if you just want to watch any of the three FREE Marimbafest public concerts: the Artist Concert (Friday), the Grand Concert (Saturday) and the Gala Concert (Sunday). You don't need to register - just come!
Do you only want to watch certain classes?
If you're only interested in seeing one or two classes, or are on a budget, then our SINGLE ENTRY PASS is for you! All Marimbafest workshops can be observed passively by any non-participants for just $30 per person per workshop. You don't need to register for this option. Simply buy the SINGLE ENTRY PASS at the door of the workshop you wish to go to!
Are you only interested in the Marimba Competition?
If you just want to participate in our Open Marimba Competition and not attend any classes, our affordable COMPETITION ONLY PASS is for you! This lets you participate fully in the Competition, where you will perform solo and potentially win some prizes. You will also receive feedback on your performance from our judging panel to help you with your development as a player. Register below to sign up for the COMPETITION ONLY PASS!

If you want to get the most out of Marimbafest, we highly recommend our most comprehensive ticket option, the FESTIVAL PASS! The FESTIVAL PASS allows you to enjoy all of Marimbafest as a festival participant.
Learn new things about marimba performance and composition by actively participating in all intensive masterclasses and workshops. Showcase your skills and potentially win prizes by participating in the Open Marimba Competition. Rehearse intensively with faculty and perform in public concerts alongside your fellow participants in the Marimbafest Festival Ensemble. Find out more about your playing with a private lesson with the faculty of your choice. You can do all this and more with the FESTIVAL PASS.

DR MATTHEW LAU (he/him)
Faculty Artist, In-Person (Hong Kong)
International Percussion Soloist and Educator
Matthew Lau is a renowned international soloist with a passion for commissioning new music from composers. Currently based in Boston, Matthew's performances have seen him present in Australia, Argentina, Korea, Japan, Russia, USA and more. Matthew continues to push the boundaries of contemporary percussion music and is an advocate for LGBTQIA+ representation. Matthew is a Marimba One Premier Artist, has a signature line of mallets with Elite Mallets and endorses Black Swamp Percussion. Matthew is the co-founder of contemporary ensemble The Up:Strike Project.
IVAN TREVINO (he/him)
Faculty Artist, Online* (USA)
International Composer and Percussionist
Ivan Trevino is a Mexican-American composer, percussionist, writer and arts advocate. Ivan’s music has been performed on five continents in over 25 countries. He is a multi-award winning recipient of the Percussive Arts Society’s International Composition Contest and has over 70 compositions and songs to his name. Most recently, he was the featured composer on American Public Media’s Performance Today. An active educator, Ivan currently serves as Lecturer in Percussion at University of Texas at Austin. He is also co-director of the Eastman Percussion Festival, a biennial summer festival hosted by Eastman School of Music. He is an artist and clinician for Innovative Percussion, Black Swamp Percussion, Zildjian Cymbals, Evans Drumheads, Pearl / Adams, Meinl, and Beetle Percussion.

SA HALL (they/them)

Co-Founder and Performer, Spectrum Ensemble
A first prize winner in the PAS International Marimba Competition and DCI Individual and Ensemble Competition, SA Hall is co-founder of Spectrum Ensemble, promoting LGBTQIA+ representation and visibility in music, building community among Queer artists and other social justice work. SA's works and arrangements have been featured on concerts at Northwestern University and San Francisco Conservatory, Southern California Marimba, the ChamberQUEER Festival, the Church of the Friendly Ghost New Music festival, Modern Marimba, the Oh My Ears New Music Festival, the Lift Music Fund, and the Kontrapunktus Chamber Orchestra.

ROSIE CERQUONE (she/her)

Vibraphonist and Singer-Songwriter
Rosie Cerquone is a vibraphonist, singer, songwriter, and sound designer based out of Spokane, WA, USA. She was trained as a classical percussionist, receiving a BM in Percussion Performance from the University of Montana in 2020. Rosie is most passionate about creating music that doesn’t have a clear genre, but chooses to sum it up as “pop percussion”–writing, performing, and producing accessible music using vibraphone, vocals, drums, percussion, bass, and electronics as the primary instrumentation. Rosie is passionate about sharing her creative process through social media and encouraging others to explore music and sound in their own unique ways. Rosie is an artist for Marimba One and BlueHaus Mallet Shop.

Percussion Faculty at Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts
Paul Tanner is a renowned Australian percussionist who has travelled across the world as a soloist, ensemble and orchestral musician. Formerly Principal Percussionist of West Australian Symphony Orchestra, Paul is now a DMA candidate and percussion faculty at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts and UWA Conservatorium of Music.

ADAM TAN (he/him)

Executive Director for Marimbafest Australia
Adam Tan is a percussionist, composer and educator from Perth, Western Australia. He is the host and creator of the popular YouTube show about percussion, THE STUDIO. Adam is regularly seen around the world on a regular basis, having performed and presented across Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Taiwan, the United States and more. As a composer, Adam's compositions are played by thousands annually and appear on repertoire lists around the world. Adam is a Marimba One Premier Artist, Encore Mallets and Salyers Percussion Signature Artist with his signature mallets, the Adam Tan series, as well as an artist for Soundbrenner. Adam's compositions are both self-published as well as published by Edition Svitzer. Adam is the founder of Marimbafest Australia.

KANA OMORI (she/her)

International Marimba Virtuoso Soloist
Kana Omori is an international marimba soloist from Kyoto, Japan. A First Prize and Absolute Prize winner of PAS Italy, Kana frequently performs and presents classes around the world, including Argentina, Germany, Switzerland, France, Italy and the USA. Kana is an Adams Percussion marimba artist and has her own line of mallets with Encore Mallets Inc and endorses Sabian Cymbals. Kana's arrangements are published by Edition Svitzer.
JAIME ESPOSITO (they/them)
Faculty Artist, Online* (USA)
Co-Founder and Performer, Spectrum Ensemble
Jaime Esposito is a performer and educator based out of Dallas, Texas. Jaime co-founded Spectrum Ensemble, a non-profit organization dedicated to highlighting talented LGBTQIA+ composers and performers. The ensemble commissions and performs new music by Queer composers, raises funds for LGBTQIA+ causes, and advocates for marginalized members of the music community. Jaime has been an artist with the World Percussion Group, Heartland Marimba, International Lyric Academy, and frequently plays with the Las Colinas Symphony Orchestra, Texarkana Symphony, Allen Symphony, Abilene Philharmonic, DFW Brass, and Dallas Chamber Winds.

MASTER CHRISTOPHER (he/him)

Multi-Disciplinary Percussionist-Composer
Christopher Thompson, otherwise known as 'Master Christopher', is a multidisciplined
performer-composer who merges contemporary percussion, classical music, and jazz, with rap. Chris is the founder and director of Motivational Arts, Performance, and Sound (M.A.P.S.), and inspires many through his multi-disciplinary performances, having performed at the 2022 Percussive Arts Society International Convention, the Eurovision Song Contest in Germany, the John Coltrane International Jazz and Blues festival and more. Chris currently serves on the board of the Alliance of Black Orchestral Percussionists, is a member of the Percussive Arts Society New Music/Research committee, and is an artist for Marimba One and Black Swamp Percussion.

ROBERT OETOMO (he/him)

International Marimba Soloist and Composer
Robert Oetomo is a renowned Australian marimba soloist and composer whose artistic practice sees him performing around the world on a regular basis. His compositions are some of the most popular works in the marimba repertory. Robert is a Marimba One Premier Artist, has a signature line of mallets with Encore Mallets Inc. and endorses Sabian Cymbals. Robert's works are published by Edition Svitzer and Tapspace.

Director of Perth Thundercorps Drumline
Mercedes Slack-Smith is a percussionist and educator based in Perth, Western Australia. Mercedes is the Drumline Director of the Perth Thundercorps Drumline and is an experienced battery instructor in Australia. Mercedes performs with D2 Drumline and is a current Masters candidate at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA).
